SIRUP Has The Cure In New Album

Artist SIRUP has announced he will be dropping a brand-new album titled cure on March 17th. The new album will be SIRUP’s second full-length album overall and will feature a total of thirteen tracks. SIRUP dropped his first album Feels Good on May 29th of 2019 and since then has gone on to release one EP plus three digital singles. The full track-listing hasn’t been revealed yet but the songs “HOPELESS ROMANTIC”, “Online feat. ROMderful”, and “Thinkin about us” are confirmed to be on the new album. cure is being released in three editions total: a standard CD-only edition, and two limited editions (on DVD or Blu-ray formats). Pre-orders are up and posted below along with the music video for his song “Online feat. ROMderful” for everyone to check out.

“Encore” by YOASOBI

To be honest, listening to “Encore” changed my view about YOASOBI full turn. I wasn’t a fan of “Yoru ni Kakeru” so vocalist Ikura’s come hither take on this track was something that I really appreciated and finally understood why they were popular. Its lyrics absolutely hit me in a way that just stuck with me especially throughout the Valentine’s Day season. While YOASOBI hasn’t completely sold me like other artists to buy the work that the song is accompanied to, they sure made me look forward to their upcoming releases.

“Suspect” by hololive IDOL PROJECT

Furthering my rabbit hole into the hololive v-tuber project and off the heels of their first live concert Bloom, I had absolutely enjoyed my time with the Floral Circlet series of songs that the company released leading up to the concert. Featuring members roboco-san, Aki Rosenthal, and Ayame Nakiri, this electronic-pop track is brought beautifully with each member’s vocal range. This coupled with famous composer Kyota, “Suspect” became a song that I absolutely fell in love with upon my first listen. With the announcement of the physical album Bouquet dropping in the summer I can’t wait to be lured by the track once again.

“ZEAL of proud” by Roselia 

Now I had my ups and down with Roselia since “Fire Bird” back in 2019, but “ZEAL of proud” brought back the reason why I fell in love with them in the first place. With Aina Aiba’s vocals on point in collaboration with other members joining in throughout the song, it ended up becoming one of, if not the top release in 2021 for me. While me still loving the BanG Dream!! project was in question last year, “ZEAL of proud” has cleared any hesitation that I had from here till the end.

“Thinkin about us” by SIRUP

With the Valentine season being this month, the attraction to love songs is second to none and “Thinkin about us” was one of those tracks that for one reason or another I kept in my rotation. The lyrics just speak to the listener and do a great job of telling the story that he has crafted. Also, the more lax composition that is sprinkled throughout the track shows how much of an amazing vocalist SIRUP actually is. While this was released near the end of a monumental 2020 that he had musically, I know that SIRUP won’t be slowing down anytime soon and I can’t wait for the next release.

“Low Key” feat SIRUP by RUNG HYANG

Now this was a new pick up, as RUNG HYANG is a vocalist that just showed up on my radar a couple weeks back. While she’s an amazing vocalist on her own right, her collaboration with SIRUP is what put her on the radar for me. The simple and elegant composition that draws in the listener is just top tier and both vocalist’s smooth and soft spoken style that is sprinkled throughout is just the cherry on top. While this was the majority of a collaborative effort by SIRUP and RUNG HYANG, I can’t wait to see what 2021 has in store for HYANG and she will most definitely be a future Music Corner artist.

“Blueberry” by Daichi Yamamoto

Missing that western R&B/ Rap music I get during my morning work, in-d was the initial step to Daichi Yamamoto. He had a lot of impressive tracks off of his latest EP Elephant in My Room but “Blueberry” scratched that itch that I needed for western style. It’s beautiful yet haunting composition is something that needs to be heard. Yamamoto’s rap skill is nothing to sneeze at and goes above Music Corner alum Sorane’s skill and I put him high in that regard in the Japanese music industry.  Yamamoto left a great first impression on his style and cadence from this track and I can’t wait to dive into the rest of his discography.

“Free” by Polkadot Stingray

While released back in July, I didn’t get a chance to listen to it during our whole ordeal with Kenshi, however, I had high expectations for this song due to their previous track “Stinging Spica” already being in the race for song of the year. While not reaching the top parse, it reaches that bite size goodness a solid pop-rock band needs to be. That one simple act will always make me go back to tracks like this all too often.

“Your Love” by SIRUP

Continuing from my R&B/ Hip-Hop trance that I was put into this month, SIRUP was an artist that I kept going back to. From my rotation last month, “Your Love” was always that second pick from his discography. The craft and skill SIRUP has shown in this song was just absolutely fantastic and shows that he’s enjoying every bit of it. From the high energy and simplistic composition to going above and beyond with his vocal range, it’s a track that needs to be heard.

“Blue” by LUCKY TAPES feat. Kojikoji

I was absolutely ecstatic about this collaboration as I’ve been high on LUCKY TAPES for years since starting the podcast. Kojikoji was an up-and-coming vocalist that I’ve been keeping my eye on since the abundant of collaborations that she as already done with similar artists. One of the things that I just love about this track is that the vocalist Kai doesn’t do anything dance while the track keeps the composition simple and not overbearing. From that one simple act, it puts both his and Kojikoji’s vocals into the forefront and entices you to keep listening. The track had gone above and beyond my expectations and was the main reason I did a Music Corner about them in the first place.

 “Fireworks” by Daoko and Kenshi Yonezu

Due to our podcast doing an Artist Spotlight about Yonezu last month, one of his tracks was going to bleed over into my heavy rotation. “Fireworks” was one of the first songs I honestly fell in love with from Yonezu that I didn’t know it was from him originally. Its beautiful composition brings out the best of both vocalists. While the solo versions of the song were just ok, the original duet version is absolutely fantastic and in my opinion the best work that both Daoko and Yonezu have done.

SIRUP Extends His Romance to Another Language with Latest Music Video!

Vocalist SIRUP released an English version of his latest track “HOPELESS ROMANTIC” on YouTube. Originally released as a digital single back in May, this surprise release comes from the artist’s push into the English market. The music video has a leg up on the original as it features the artist along with both the sound producer and composers Shin Sakiura and starRo. It was also filmed in on take and fully in English lyrics, SIRUP commented that she wants to be able to convey the message that the song holds, capture the energy that the creators of the song possess — and share it with you and the world.

The video features animation drawn by team maxilla and boasts interesting themes which are thought-provoking for fans across the globe.
